What should you say to a lady of the night? What should you say to a lady of the night? You could tell her all about your 1am journey, the things you saw and things you did and why you sweat up the hill to cost back down it and say you're busy when you're really just scared Perhaps you could explain your layering process First the skin, and then the wool and then the bulk and then the coats But be sure to explain that it's a just, it's a just, it's a just, it's a just the stars that fall What do you do with a lady of the night? What do you do with a lady of the night? You could show her the field you've laid your back on and show her the shrubs that shrouded your bicycle Whine and complain and vomit those words that fork your tongue in a most unflattering shape maybe she could teach you how to dance with flames or open eyes and start your life but be sure to lie cuz it's a just, it's a just, it's a just, it's a just the stars that fall What will you see with a lady of the night? What will you see with a lady of the night? You'll watch and watch and watch with diminishing returns scout both the dippers, crabs and the belt You'll both tense up with nervous excitement after the first time, after the first time It's makes you appreciate the beautiful symmetry Of physics, astronomy, math, and chemistry don't forget that it's a just, it's a just, it's a just, it's a just the stars that fall it's a just, it's a just, it's a just, it's a just the stars that fall

Maybe it's the spring you get in your step after a cup of coffee Maybe it's the way that you smile at me when I'm not looking Emerald flames filled up my eyes across the Mississippi Maybe it's the setting and the rising of the sun throughout one conversation Maybe it's the way that an old couch creaks gladly with equality The moon heard every sleepy word across the Mississippi Maybe it's the feel of the gravel topped roof you and I both snuck onto Maybe it's the chatter of a new skateboard over the sidewalk below Even stars could see your light across the Mississippi Maybe it's the current that's a scrambling my brains and sweeping them down the stream Maybe it's the number of the leaves within the breeze that wakes up every hair Time got lost and fell through a dream across the Mississippi

Hungry brown boy, he goes a-marching down the road with bullet cases in his pack just for the paycheck Water crashes down onto the salty seashore, onto the salty heart of the engineer's daughter and Sharply suited man preachin' to briefcased-bands about the money they can make with push, push, push Saplings go to school and wonder what they'll grow up to be, everyone wants to leave a legacy and Oh no! Oh no! Oh no no! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no no! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no no! Bobby, some things never change! Skeletons of buildings left decaying in the sun by an indifferent God, smile for the camera and Fire cleanses the old forest, ending life and bring the rebirth, covered in ashes, well grab your books and get your learnin', plate techtonics, Mallory's Le Morte D'arthur can fool all your friends! Children playin', people prayin', everyone has got a sayin' even though they know it's a lie well Oh no! Oh no! Oh no no! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no no! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no no! Bobby, some things never change! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no no! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no no! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no no! Bobby, some things never change!

When I sit alone, I have plenty of time to contemplate all the thoughts and other wastes floating around inside my head, swirling around like the eye of a storm, west towards the death of the earth east of forever skies, and south of seas that die And, I think we found some light at the end of the tunnel, if I can just go one more mile on the other side I'm pretty sure I'll see it A city full of people who are believing that love isn't the edge of a knife If you ever have the time alone to contemplate all the things you say, and the things you do, and the things you use just to end up on top, just west of “I can't stop!” East of “I'm just fine” and south of the battle line. And, I think we found some light at the end of the tunnel, if I can just go one more mile on the other side I'm pretty sure I'll see it A city full of people who are believing that love isn't the edge of.... And, I think we found some light at the end of the tunnel, if I can just go one more mile on the other side I'm pretty sure I'll see it A city full of people who are believing that love isn't the edge of a knife

Well, I'm in love with a girl who loves herself enough to love how she looks at 6 AM. She's skinny like a model, but unlike a model she knows how to eat and knows how to walk Her natural hair and her natural face, her natural looks are begging double takes She don't need expensive shoes, or name brand jeans, she don't need designers clothes to look like a dream Oh, she's about perfect Oh, she's about perfect There's just one problem We haven't met. She's got all the brains to talk with me about politics and history and psychology You probably can't begin to fathom her mastery of the sarcasm cuz when you flip on the TV, all you do is bitch about Home Movies we'll just laugh and say it's their loss while we graze on our salads tossed Oh, she's about perfect Oh, she's about perfect There's just one problem We haven't met. Well she might play the harmonica, or she might sing, she might not do any of those things Though I love her for who she is, she hates the piss out of this song Oh, she's about perfect Oh, she's about perfect There's just one problem We haven't met. We haven't met. We haven't met. We haven't met.

Why do you love him if it only causes you pain? And Why do you hate them cuz of that book you read? and Why is everyone terrified of the rain? And Why do we worry about the state of the dead? Lord knows why we do these things, but his pen ran out of ink He just ran out of ink Are you defending life that's rotting in your belly? Are you fighting for her right to be a sloth? And When does an egg become a cannery? And Why does the farmer pick favorites at the trough? Lord knows why we do these things, but her pen ran out of ink She just ran out of ink When did the drivers become three fifths man? And When did playgrounds lose all their sand? And Why aren't we stewards for the sky up above? And Why must some soldiers hide all their love? Lord knows why we do these things, but his pen just ran out of ink, so the Lord told me why we do these things, and this is what he said

I know where you can rest your head, Through summer breeze and creaky beds. Under the hush of thunderstorms and careless clouds eager to perform atop snow-topped misty mountains or low-lying lily statued fountains The place I know within my arms you can go So please, please please don't say no. I know where you can rest your head, through wars of bombs, guns and lead Along the banks of bodies lost the smell of terror-decaying frost between the rows of men berserked by constant fear that always worked The place I know within my arms you can go So please, please please don't say no. I know where you can rest your head to replace the time with content instead when five mistakes from the person now is just enough to drive the gospel plow and five full laughs into the past is not more than five minutes fast The place I know within my arms you can go So please, please please don't say no. The place I know within my arms you can go So please don't go.

Sin Is 03:48
Is it really sin to love someone like you? If it is a sin, deny it till you are blue I guess it's a sin to be born different than most It's something you cannot change, decided by my holy Ghost Is it really sin to love someone who loves you? If you can't afford a ring, you cannot prove it true. But, it's fine if you split because you never knew what love was. Let's make it a sin just just just just cuz. Is it really sin to sing forbidden harmonies? It doesn't matter what you mean, just ask the FCC and keep on spoutin' your hate, you're the righteous one Hallelujah, keep pretending you know my son. The Lord God Bird sees right through your disguise and when your death it comes, you best run and hide Put your pencils down, you've failed the quiz. I can't speak for all, but I just don't think you really know what sin is.

I'm gonna buy a life that's paved in fame I'm gonna lie about my name I won't see it as losing a soul just the world I'll gain, just the world I'll gain When you start to fall, you know you really had it all I guess that's how we know we're human When you start to fall, you know you really had it all I guess that's how we know we're human Like bricks through a window, you'll fly! Tearing pieces, securities of the mind. You won't see it as losing a soul, just the world you'll gain, just the world you'll gain When you start to fall, you know you really had it all I guess that's how we know we're human When you start to fall, you know you really had it all I guess that's how we know we're human Na na nas! When you start to fall, you know you really had it all I guess that's how we know we're human When you start to fall, you know you really had it all I guess that's how we know we're human When you start to fall, you know you really had it all I guess that's how we know we're human

about

Pay whatever you want for my music. Whether you think it's worth $0, $5, or $100, you are welcome to download my music.

This EP represents a period of growth in my life, and a specific artistic aesthetic. These songs were written over the course of several years, and pour over some of my thoughts on love, politics, religion, and the life of the aimless twenty-somethings. I recorded all of these songs live on a lovely October day, with a couple of microphones directly into my computer. They are essentially the result of a bedroom concert, purely organic. Whether you enjoy the cracks and hums and airplanes taking off, the rough nature of the recordings capture a performance quality that is absent from commercial studio productions. Thank you very much for downloading, and I hope you enjoy it.
